i've seen a lot of great bands here for not a lot of money (less than $20 a ticket). the list includes: peaches, le tigre, the yeah yeah yeahs, the gossip, cursive, sleater-kinney, and the donnas. emo's consists of two sections: a smaller indoor section with old bleachers to serve as seating, and a much larger, mostly outdoor section with bleachers to sit on in case you don't want to fight the crowd close to the stage. both sections have a bar for your drinking needs.
if you go in the summer, be prepared to endure high heat and sweaty bodies rubbing against you. this isn't as big of a problem in the indoor part, which has air conditioning and usually hosts lesser-known bands. the cool thing is that it's usually not as crowded, and you can get close to the stage without having to squeeze between people. the outdoor part is where you have to deal with heat. the stage area is covered, so there's not much room for air flow, and ceiling fans are nonexistent. i recommend standing in the area that isn't covered, unless you don't mind claustrophobic situations and getting very close to people. if you do stand close to the stage, be sure to stay as hydrated as possible, as heat exhaustion is a very real threat.
emo's is located at 603 red river. tickets can be purchased at the door, although i suggest buying them at waterloo records or online through emo's website, as many of the shows with well-known bands sell out.
